Operation Threshold "Family Nest" Program

Bingo Every Tuesday in Independence
Bingo is held at the Buchanan County Fair Grounds every Tuesday night at the
4-H building. It has a progressive jackpot starting $300 and 51 numbers and reaching $600 as the numbers called progress. Early birds at 6:30 p.m.; regular session starting at 6:45. Concession available

In partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, the Operation Family Pack, Independence sends children in need home from school with foods that are shelf-stable, kid-friendly and healthy. The foods are easily prepared and consumed when parents are working and can’t prepare meals for their children, or when there simply isn’t enough food at home for the children to eat. Attendees will be served in the Great Spaces in the heart of the Agribition Center from Iowa wineries Cedar Ridge, Daly Creek, Fireside, Park Farm, Summerset, Tabor Home, Wide River and Winneshiek Wildberry and distributors Dimitri, Glazers and Johnson Brothers. The assortment of wines is wide and varied from the sweet to the very dry.

Along with the wine, there is music, hors d’oeuvres, fellowship and exhibits for viewing, there will also be a silent auction.

Jon Holland was pleased to present the Independence Area Food Pantry more than $3,000 from donations received for the 2009 event.
