Free GED and Adult Basic Education
classes are being held at Hawkeye
Community College's Independence Center, located on Jamestown Avenue in
Independence. These classes, sponsored by Hawkeye Community College,
meet on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 6 to 8:30

Bingo Every Tuesday in Independence
Bingo is held at the Buchanan County
Fair Grounds every Tuesday night
at the
4-H building. It has a progressive
jackpot starting $300 and 51 numbers
and reaching $600 as the numbers called progress. Early birds at 6:30
p.m.; regular session starting at 6:45. Concession available

2012 Heartland Acres Ice Fishing Derby II
Swan Lake @ Heartland Acres Agribition Campus
Say so long Winter. All funds raised will be used towards continued grounds and lake improvements.
Prizes, fun, food and good outdoor entertainment to break up a winter day.
Entries and fees due by February 3, 2012.
Cost to Enter: $140.00 entry fee per (4) person teams.($35 each)
Be creative. Teams can be with co-workers, families churches,
etc. Come up with team colors or themes and win a prize for most
creative.
Cost includes: Team Entry to Ice Fishing Derby 2012, (2) Adult
admission to Heartland Museum, (4) chili lunch passes per
team.

Chili Challenge Cook-off 2012

Sample some of the best chili prepared by area chefs.
Public will vote for your favorite chili.
Free will Donation – Half will be used for campus improvements
and half will go the local charity of choice for the winner of the
Chili Cook Off.
