New Field of Dreams Owner Makes Pitch to State Lawmakers

The
new owner of the Field of Dreams property met with state lawmakers on
Wednesday. Denise Stillman appeared before the House Economic
Growth Committee to discuss the project and possible state aid.
Representative Steve Lukan said a bill is being drafted to create a
state tax break for the project. That plan would provide a rebate on
all sales tax generated at the site, payable to the Stillman's for 10
years or up to $16 million.
The Stillman's are also likely to seek state funding to extend water
and sewer lines to the property. Stillman told the committee that
the sports complex could attract more than 4,000 out-of-state athletes
and families each week from April through September. The
Stillman's hope to open the first phase of All Star Ballpark Heaven in
April 2014.
